Kelsaya started dancing as a young child at her mother's dance school. This is where she also started teaching dance. After finishing High school she began her Dance Degree at The Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). However life took a turn due to injury and instead of the "career" path of a dancer her journey became about healing, but still, with the Arts as the path for this journey. It was at this time, during the very early 2000's, when Kelsaya first started dancing The 5 Rhythms with friends between their homes using Gabrielle Roth's CD's!
Before training as an Open Floor Teacher (2015-2018), Kelsaya completed a 2yr Adv. Dip in Anthroposophy and Steiner Ed (1998-99) along with training for 3yrs full time in Speech and Drama (2003-2005). This year, 2026, Kelsaya is excited to be commencing her Masters in Creative Arts Therapy: Dance Therapy, back at the VCA 30 yrs later.
CommonMovement began during Kelsaya's Open Floor Training whilst running OF Classes along with teaching Folk Dance and Open Floor within the Steiner Curriculum at Schools in Melbourne. During 2018-2022 Kelsaya was engaged as the Regional Manager of VIC/TAS for The Royal Academy of Dance and therefore teaching life had to take a back seat.
More recently Kelsaya and her partner committed to a year long study group in NZ refreshing the Open floor Curriculum with Geordie Jahner Pd. a Core Faculty of Open Floor. It was apparent that Kelsaya was really ready to start teaching again and started up a class in East Melbourne July 2025.
Kelsaya is a mother of 3 teenage and adult sons and lives with her husband to be in The Bend of Islands/Wyenondabul on the Yarra/Birrarrung. She has always had a strong relationship with Nature. When she isn't dancing she loves being with her family and friends along with doing Eurythmy, Speech, Singing, Gardening, Cooking, Hiking and Bushwalking, Birding, Swimming, Surfing, drinking cups of tea and going to see live performances.
